FALL 2023 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED SEPTEMBER 15, 2023. APPLICATIONS DUE NOVEMBER 1, 2023.

IMPORTANT NOTICE : PROWUS IS WAIVING THE GPA REQUIREMENT FOR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Music students ages 8-18.

  • Study or performance in any music genre.

  • Demonstration of financial need.

  • GPA 3.0 or higher (middle and high school students); B average grade or higher (elementary students).

    • GPA requirement waived until further notice

 

To evaluate your application, A COMPLETED APPLICATION FORM is required, PLUS:

  1. PROOF OF INCOME. Acceptable forms include ONE of the following:

    • The first two pages of last year's IRS 1040 tax return (please block out Social Security Numbers and birthdates)

    • Copies of paystubs for the past 2 months (for all supporting parents)

    • A qualifying letter of enrollment in Federal Free / Reduced Lunch Programs*

  2. TRANSCRIPT of current semester grades.

  3. ESSAY (written or video) from applicant.

  4. REFERENCES: A minimum of two references are required: one from an instructor, one from a teacher, coach or mentor.


All above items are mandatory and your application will be considered incomplete until all those items are submitted.  Applications must include all required items, even if you have applied and received a scholarship in the past. Once the complete application package is received on or before the deadline, allow at least 2-4 weeks to process and review.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FORMS

HOW TO APPLY

●       Applications are accepted every six months; applicants are required to re-apply each time.

●       Fill out the scholarship form (make sure to send ALL pages when submitting.)

  • PROOF OF INCOME: Submit household tax forms (first two pages of IRS 1040 form with Social Security numbers and birthdates blacked out), pay stubs and any information that shows need.

  • TRANSCRIPT of current semester grades.

    • Transcript requirement waived until further notice

  • ESSAY (can be video or written).

  • REFERENCES: A minimum of two instructors or references should fill out the Instructor / Music School Reference form with signatures. Give instructors plenty of time to fill out the form and return BEFORE DEADLINE DATE. REFERRALS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER DEADLINE DATE. 

    • Make sure school or instructor where scholarship money will be sent is identified on the application.

NOTIFICATION AND ACCEPTANCE OF SCHOLARSHIP

Students and parents will be notified via email or phone if scholarship is awarded.

Checks will be sent directly to instructor or school designated on application form after acceptance of scholarship is received by PROWUS from parent/guardian/student.

After receiving scholarship, parent/guardian or student is required to volunteer a minimum of 2 hours within the scholarship period. (Examples of volunteering: helping at show, hanging posters, social media or marketing support for a PROWUS event).

The applicant and parent or guardian must also provide a testimonial describing the impact of the scholarship (a form will be provided to the applicant on receiving the scholarship).

APPLICATIONS MUST BE POSTMARKED BY THE DATES ABOVE. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. ALL DOCUMENTS, INCLUDING REFERRALS, ARE REQUIRED.
